PIANO re-STRINGING

Piano Re-Stringing – Before

The steel strings mainly need to be replaced on a piano because they have rusted. This can be caused from moisture in the air, high humidity, the placement of piano in room and other factors.  Once the strings are in this condition the piano cannot be tuned. It can also lead to other components being damaged inside the piano if not treated. Once the new strings are fitted the tone of the piano will greatly be enhanced!

A comprehensive inspection is required before this work is carried out. The tuning plank needs to be inspected to see if the new tuning pins will hold the tension of the strings. All the bridges need to be examined to see if they are not split or cracked. Sound board and ribs need to be inspected for splits and cracks. The correct bearing on the strings over the bridges needs to be examined.
